The Harvard Glee Club Foundation, Inc.
The Harvard Glee Club Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (EIN 04-2313930).
The mission of the Harvard Glee Club Foundation is to sustain the traditions and aspirations of the Harvard Glee Club as a world-class men’s choral organization and to promote excellence through choral singing at Harvard and beyond.
In the fulfillment of its mission, the Foundation serves four primary constituencies:
- The Harvard Glee Club
- Alumni of the Harvard Glee Club
- The Holden Choruses at Harvard University (including the Harvard Glee Club, the Radcliffe Choral Society, and the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum)
- The broader Community of Choral Arts
The Foundation is led by a full-time Executive Director, who oversees day-to-day operations, and a 13-member Executive Committee. A national, 34-member Board of Directors, comprising Glee Club alumni and arts professionals, as well as five standing committees, composed of Directors and volunteers, provide overall vision and direction.
The Foundation’s involvement with the Glee Club ranges from the purchase of choral scores to the mentoring of the Glee Club’s student management. The Foundation’s primary activities are fundraising to provide financial support for concerts and tours, the subsidy of voice lessons for student singers, and the commissioning of new music for men’s chorus. Additionally, the Foundation perpetuates spirit and camaraderie among Glee Club alumni by encouraging a range of alumni activities including special events in Cambridge and around the country, reunion sings, summer tour reunions, and performances by the HGC Alumni Chorus. Finally, the Foundation provides support to the other Holden Choruses at Harvard in their concert and touring activities.
